Julie Jones appointed as Principal of Phillips Magnet Elementary School
Posted 5/29/20

Julie Jones has been appointed the new principal of Phillips Magnet Elementary school, effective July 1, 2020. Ms. Jones has been with NVUSD in a variety of roles since 2013, most recently serving as Principal of Vichy Elementary. Despite her short tenure at Vichy, she created a leadership structure at school incorporating School Site Council, Parent Club and teacher teams to increase collaboration, transparency and communication. Also impressive is her commitment to social emotional learning shown through Vichy’s weekly wellness block for community building and restorative practices.

Julie also has considerable experience in managing magnet programs, aligning well with Phillips’ unique programs. Previously she was the Magnet Coordinator and the Assistant Principal at Harvest Middle School, where she managed a three-year, federal magnet grant, leading to an International Baccalaureate designation.

Julie will be a great leader for Phillips, building on the extraordinary work of Matt Manning during his ten years of service.  We thank Matt for his leadership and wish him well in his new district role, where he will be responsible for leading curriculum development for the elementary level.
