Phillips Magnet Elementary School
Phillips Elementary School is both a Magnet as well as a Community School! Leadership - Engineering - Art - Design (LEAD)
Phillips Magnet Elementary School offers a specialized LEAD program (Leadership, Engineering, Art, and Design). Developing strong leaders is the mission at Phillips. All students learn skills and habits through leadership lessons each week. These habits are applied through service and communication with the greater community. Students also participate in integrated units that support academic content in Science and Social Studies with opportunities to tinker and create using engineering and design thinking. Art is also an important component of learning at Phillips. Students regularly visit our designated art studio and whole school family art events are held each year. As a community school, we at Phillips welcome and encourage families to participate in the learning at school and have a voice in building a strong program for all students.
Our Program
Our Success for All Approach
Phillips Magnet Elementary is committed to providing rigorous classroom instruction, challenging work for advanced students, and intervention classes for students needing extra support. We offer daily instruction in health, fitness, project based learning, social-emotional learning and 21st century skills. Our parents and teachers work together to hold all students accountable for high standards of behavior and performance.
Students and parents also enjoy a variety of after school programs, performances and family fun events.
We are a Community School
As a community school, we provide extended learning opportunities through our Cool School EXL program that runs from after school until 6pm. Cool School offers after school enrichment through fun and interactive tracks such as in STEM, art, and sports, provides time for homework support, as well as sports challenges alongside other schools in the district.
Our school community also offers a Family Resource Center (FRC) through On The Move, which provides supports and resources to families in the community including support with Medi-Cal applications, taxes, workshops on a variety of topics, and connections to agencies within Napa County. Phillips also has an active Parent Faculty Club that meets the last Friday of every month at 8:30am to plan school-wide activities and fundraising events for our school.
We build up our students to be leaders as part of our LEAD focus, and offer a leadership academy for our upper grade students through LAYLA, which meets weekly after school.
